No time for blogging today

I am having to deal with evicting a tenant who moved in a month ago. I have just discovered that he is a registered "predatory sex offended." He committed this crime 22 years ago and has since become a born-again Christian. However my tenants who have young girls are worried because his rap sheet states that he "raped a female minor using force with a weapon." He is a perfectly decent man and has married a really nice woman but business is business and I can't afford to have dozens of other tenants moving out because they are understandably scared.

Meanwhile here's a little quote from Goldwater:
The time will come when we entrust the conduct of our affairs to men who understand that their first duty as public officials is to divest themselves of the power they have been given. It will come when Americans, in hundreds of communities throughout the nation, decide to put the man in office who is pledged to enforce the Constitution and restore the Republic. Who will proclaim in a campaign speech:
“I have little interest in stream lining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation is ‘needed’ before I have first determined whether it is constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for neglecting my constituents’ ‘interests,’ I shall reply that I was informed their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I am doing the very best I can.”
The Golden Age of Jefferson, Goldwater and Reagan are gone and no politician talks like that anymore and probably none will ever talk like that again. The Age of Statism has since become too well entrenched and it seems most people no longer think of government as a "necessary evil." Oh, well, unlike idealists, Utopianists and Marxists, I've never expected the world to be perfect.
