The Useful Idiot Party

Why does the Democratic Party continue to pursue policies that history has shown do not work? Are they simply stupid or are they devious? I'm convinced that most of them are stupid well-meaning bleeding-hearts who are being manipulated by a smaller number of devious Marxists who know that socialism does not work; who pursue obsolete failed policies not because they think that that they will work but because they know they will not work. They simply wish to destroy freedom and capitalism and exert totalitarian control in the resulting chaos. These devout hard-line Marxists work behind the scenes. They are professors, writers and even tycoons such as Soros. They put out the talking point memos.

As I've mentioned before: Lenin did not coin the actual phrase "useful idiots" and never used it in his writings but it is clear that he thought of Western liberal bleeding-hearts as "Left-Wing Communists" or "deaf-mutes." (The actual phrase "useful idiots" was first used in 1948 by western anti-communists.)

From Lenin's book, Left-Wing Communism, an Infantile Disorder:

The so-called cultural element of Western Europe and America are incapable of comprehending the present state of affairs and the actual balance of forces; these elements must be regarded as deaf-mutes and treated accordingly.
...
We must:
(a) In order to placate the deaf-mutes, proclaim the fictional separation of our government ... from the Comintern, declaring this agency to be an independent political group. The deaf-mutes will believe it.

(b) Express a desire for the immediate resumption of diplomatic relations with capitalist countries on the basis of complete non-interference in their internal affairs. Again, the deaf-mutes will believe it. They will even be delighted and fling wide-open their doors through which the emissaries of the Comintern and Party Intelligence agencies will quickly infiltrate into these countries disguised as our diplomatic, cultural, and trade representatives.

Capitalists the world over and their governments will, in their desire to win Soviet market, shut their eyes to the above-mentioned activities and thus be turned into blind deaf-mutes. They will furnish credits, which will serve as a means of supporting the Communist parties in their countries, and, by supplying us, will rebuild our war industry, which is essential for our future attacks on our suppliers. In other words, they will be laboring to prepare their own suicide.

World revolution has been powerfully stimulated and accelerated by the horrors, vileness and abominations of the world imperialist war and the hopelessness of the situation created by it, this revolution is developing in width and depth with such rapidity, with such a wonderful wealth of changing forms, with such an edifying refutation of all doctrinairism, that there is every reason to hope for a rapid and complete recovery of the international communist movement from the infantile disorder of "left-wing" communism.

Obama may seem to be one of the "useful idiots" but I think he is one of the true believers in Marxism.
