And the winner of the debate was Joe Wurzelbacher...
...the now famous plumber, whom Mac very wisely referred to three or four times.
Mac was good but, boy, he really is even worse of an orator than W. He's a career Congress-critter which means he knows how to push his agenda in installments slowly by concentrating on trivial details; the way one "argues in increments" when sitting on committees (which is why I hate sitting on committees.) He sure ain't the master of grand sweeping ideas as T. Roosevelt and Reagan were.
Which is fine with me. I trust ordinary, plain-spoken folk a lot more than grand orators. Obama is a grand orator as Mac pointed out three times - using the word "eloquent" each time with carefully muted sarcasm.
The loser of the evening was obviously Backtrack Obama - not only because he sounded like Polly the Parrot mouthing carefully rehearsed talking points but simply for using the phrase "the worse financial crisis since the Great Depression" five times. Of course, hardly anybody alive knows what the Great Depression was so Obama can lie through his teeth.
(The truth is that our financial crisis is not even as bad as the one caused by Carter 30 years ago. There are no gas lines let alone soup lines. But I'll save my thoughts about the Democrats' lies for a real rant.)
I've watched Obama's mouth go skew over the past year which is what happens when you try to talk out of both sides of it. I noticed tonight for the first time that his mouth now has slight slope downwards towards the left - no doubt to facilitate the drainage of bullshit. It will only get worse as he ages and his dishonest character etches itself firmly and permanently on the perfectly nice face that God gave him.
Highlight of the night was when Mac called Obama, "Senator Government" and then pretended that it was a mistake which it wasn't. Mac has a very dry and sometimes quite vicious sense of humor which few people get.
