The Palins, unplanned pregnancies and abortion

This is one of the photos that the loony left was using yesterday to prove that Bristol was the mother of Trig. They screamed, "She is always carrying the baby and see the ring on her ring finger!"

Well, Bristol is wearing a ring because she is engaged to be married.

Let me say this right away. The fact that Bristol is pregnant doesn't bother me one bit. Many kids make mistakes but not too many kids make the right decisions after that nor do their parents. The Palins' decision to accept this simply proves to me that they live according to their principles and are a warm and loving family.

Teen pregnancy is nothing new. I grew up in a small village of a couple of hundred folks. About fifty years ago, three of the girls in my age group got pregnant but only two kept their babies. One was a Catholic whose parents were dead against abortion. She married the father of her baby and, as far as I know, they are still married. The other girl gave her baby to her parents. The one who had an abortion was never the same again. She became hardened, embittered and unhappy and went through husbands like discarded Kleenex.

Maybe it's a small town thing but I have not heard of one abortion here in my neck of the woods. One of my tenants daughters recently got pregnant at the age of 17. Both sets of parents rallied around the teen couple, bought them a trailer and moved them into my park.

Unplanned pregnancies have happened since the beginning of time but the left will have a field day screaming "Christian hypocrisy!" I've already read one say that the Palins forced Bristol to keep the baby instead of "doing the sensible thing" and aborting it.

Anyway, basically what I'm saying is that it's no big deal for me. If anything, ordinary folks will be able to relate to the Palins even more and they have set a fine example of how to handle a difficult situation.
