I sure hope that we don't start being gimmicky

Leave that to Obama. All we have to do is tell the truth about the current economic mess without assigning blame.

Being gimmicky plays right into the hands of the commies. Gimmicks are their gig not ours. And by gimmicks I mean being cute and clever. All we need to do is be adult because the other side sure isn't.

Tell the truth about the "housing bubble." It was caused by the fact that the semi/quasi Federal agencies, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had to comply with the Housing and Community Development Act (HCDA) of 1974,

The purpose of this part is to implement the provisions of section 109 of title I of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 (Title I) (42 U.S.C. 5309). Section 109 provides that no person in the United States shall, on the ground of race, color, national origin, religion, or sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity funded in whole or in part with Federal financial assistance.

The Democrats may have initiated HCDA but who did not veto that bill? Both parties (and all of us) are to blame for some silly feel-good politically-correct nonsense legislation. Our desire to be nice and feel good without thinking through all the consequences of lending money to folks who had no idea of their obligations and responsibilities....well, what can I say other than that most people seemed to be taking Valium in the 70s.

And that's the problem with government interfering in the free market. You know nobody thought about the consequences because it's not their money that they're squandering.

But being adult and not gimmicky applies to all issues. All our side has to do is be adult. Of course, if -as the case may very well be - most Americans have become as infantilized as Europeans, then we might as well shut up shop and go home.
