I was born and raised in a small village in South Africa and then spent half my life living in big cities on three continents but eventually settled down on a farm in Oregon.

I regard myself as a classical Lockean/Jeffersonian liberal but, since leftists have stolen the word "liberal," I now think of myself as a "don't fence me in" "don't tread on me" libertarian Republican.
